When Super Billy's World Went Wonky is a story for kids and a tool for parents and caregivers to highlight coping strategies for the ongoing issues caused by the quakes and to support children who are coming to terms with their experiences.
This free picture book was originally dedicated to the children of Canterbury, New Zealand, who were affected by the Christchurch earthquake that occurred on 22 February 2011, and the other large quakes and aftershocks that happened after 4 September 2010.
Sadly, this book now becomes relevant to the many families affected by the November 2016 quakes.
The story includes an activity for parents and caregivers to work on with their child. The book has been reviewed by Clinical Psychologist, Nigel Latta, who has recommended it as a useful resource for children and provided a foreword. This eBook is free and can be downloaded and read online, or printed at home. The illustrations are by Stephanie Basham and the book was inspired by a real dog, named Billy.
